This has got to be the single best game I have ever played on Newgrounds or for free on the internet; and I have given it a while before I decided to write this review.. it is not hyperbole or first play giddiness.

Everything about this piece of work is awesome on every single level, I can't even think of a single way to improve it other than by giving me more of it which is apparently on its way. The graphics were beautiful, gameplay system fantastic, music fitting and above all else it was just damn fun. I could play this again actually, which says a lot because most of the stuff on here is worth one sit through.. if even that.

Excellent work on this, I can't wait for the next one.

That was certainly an interesting take on the music, which I always loved for some reason. And hey, you managed to give Mario some kind of personality even if it isn't exactly the kind that Nintendo always shoves down our throats, haha.

I agree with a user comment below; while it could be enjoying, I have to judge this in terms of the work that you did and not in terms of the work that Weird Al did along with the character artists for the Pokemon games.

Along with the lack of pre-loader, or anything at the end offering credits\restart button.. anything clearly done by you such as the little bits between the song verses, just doesn't look up to Portal quality.

I enjoy it when people do stuff like this, because there are many conversations on podcasts that could receive this treatment and be just as funny. You did a great job with the animation and syncing up words to mouths especially, awesome!

If you really worked on this concept and I mean improved upon the graphics, animation and added some more concepts into the mix.. you could have the next turtle cannon style of game. Heck, I don't think it would even be that bad of a thing if you took the store idea and added a whole Mario theme to this. No one could really fault you for it, and really it was done before then as well.

Good luck in your future flashes.. you should for sure come back to this idea at some point. All it needs it some more polish.

Bwaahaha, absolutely awesome and the animation.. you're really being too hard on yourself. This is the third time I've come back to watch it and only now, after looking at who authored the bloody thing can I tell that it wasn't done by Egoraptor. You need to do a Metal Gill Awesome 2 to take the story up to speed man, absolutely awesome.

And now I am stuck wanting to see the fast text jokes but too lazy to even screencap them to see what they say. DAMMIT!

It's just that this isn't a very good one, at all. The dialouge ESPECIALLY at the start of this movie is horrible and laugh out loud bad when it really wasn't trying to be. I realized there were moments that were supposed to be funny, but there were funny simply because of how bad they were.. nothing else on that end. The animation was okay at time but FOR SURE could be improved upon.

Doesn't deserve to hit the portal yet, until at least those two main gripes are fixed.

I am going to echo what someone said below when I say that I have NEVER played anything like this in my life, and heck.. I've played quite a few games in my lifetime. Especially for something online, this is addictive as could be and just a little change like being able to control any one of the units works perfectly in junction with taking away the monotony of micro-managing in other games.

In retrospect it's something that is SO simple yet SO easy to implement into a working game design, I am surprised this is the first time that I have seen it done.

The graphics are a bit crude, you could polish those up a bit.. but otherwise you have a perfectly workable concept here that I could see working great in a full game.
